Outside the Palmehus (Palm House) in the Botanic Garden, Copenhagen, Denmark, there is a seating area where you can sit and look out at the panorama of the ornamental lake and gardens. The Palm House was built in 1874 and was modelled on the old Crystal Palace building that was erected for the London Great Exhibition in 1851.
The Botanical Garden (Botanisk Have) was first established in 1600 but it was moved twice before it was ultimately given its current location in 1870. The garden is part of the National History Museum of Denmark which is itself part of the University of Copenhagen Faculty of Science and its purpose is research, educational and recreational.
