First snowy day in January 2015. The highlight of the evening during the blue hour, the moment supreme for the evening photographer because of the beautiful blue evening sky, beautiful contrast and beautiful artificial city light. The photo was shot from the Throw before the scaffold building. The photo shows a nice view of the Welle with in the middle the ancient Grote / Lebuïnuskerk, a gothic hall church built in 1450 and 1525. The church was used until 1580 by Catholics and later taken over by Calvinsten who destroyed the interior and plastered.
Deventer is a town and city in the Salland area of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2020, Deventer has a population of just under 100.000 people. The town is mostly positioned on the east bank of the river IJssel, however likewise has a little part of its area on the west bank. In 2005 the town of Bathmen (with a population of about 5000 citizens) was combined with Deventer as part of a nationwide effort to decrease civil service in the Netherlands.
Deventer was most likely established around the year 768 by the English missionary Lebuinus, who constructed a wooden church on the east bank of the river IJssel.
