Tips for use

About ‘Panoramic Volcanic Crater of Faial’ by Antwan Janssen

Faial's volcanic crater, also known as the Caldeira, is one of the most fascinating natural attractions in the Azores. Located on the island of Faial, this crater offers breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventurers.

About two kilometres in diameter and 400 metres deep, the Caldeira is a remnant of ancient volcanic activity. The interior of the crater is covered with lush, green vegetation and is home to a diversity of flora and fauna. A walk along the rim of the crater offers panoramic views of the surrounding island, the ocean and even neighbouring islands on clear days.

Photographers will appreciate the enchanting landscapes of the Caldeira. The sun's rays breaking through the clouds and illuminating the crater create beautiful shadows and colours ideal for impressive photographs. The serene silence and pristine nature make this place a paradise for any visitor.

As you can see on this site my preference goes to landscapes, wildlife but also to the local population, mostly abroad but certainly also in our beautiful Netherlands. In recent years, several of my photos have won awards in both national and international photo competitions.
