Metro line 6 departs from Passy station to cross the upper level of the Pont de Bir Hakeim in Paris. Built between 1903 and 1905, this bridge is one of many bridges over the Seine and is located just south of the Eifel Tower.
The two-storey bridge was designed by Jean Camille Formigé and Louis Biette and was originally called Viaduc de Passy but was renamed in 1948 after a World War II battle, the Battle of Bir-Hakeim. The lower level is for pedestrians, cyclists and motorised traffic while the upper level is the connection between the Bir-Hakeim and Passy metro stations.
