Paris quadrifolia in black and white with his shadow. Picture was taken in South Limburg. In the older deciduous forests with moist soil you will find the typical forest plant: Paris quadrifolia. The plant usually has four leaves that make a star on one stalk. On this central stalk stand one flower with prominent stamens and an ovary that grows into a blue-black poisonous berry. It is one of the most early bloomers in the forest and quite rare.
