In 1997 I moved from Amsterdam to the charming town of Zutphen - situated on the river IJssel.
In 1998 a tibetan terrier came into our family, who had to be walked in the forelands a few times a day. Every morning the IJssel river offered a different sight:
barges, canoeists, high and low tide, patches of fog and even the occasional ice.
When I started photographing in 2014, I wandered a lot through the floodplains.
Small bird colonies had settled on flooded…
