About five pebbles with a rough texture, different sizes, stacked on top of each other. Together, they form a beautiful tower that is perfectly balanced.
Such a stack of stones is often seen in inhospitable areas. Traditionally, these towers of stones are used to show the way in such an area, as there are hardly any paths. The stones show you the way.
Various folk tales and legends are also often attached to the piles of stones. The magical aura of such a pile of stones in a remote area will have contributed to this.
A pile of stones can also belong to a religion and is considered sacred by some believers. In Buddhism, for example, a pile of five stones is a signpost, both spiritually, the way of your life, but also literally when you are walking.
For me personally, this is an expression of strength, of balance and of peace. But also of connection and cooperation: together, these five stones form a sturdy tower.
The basis for this artwork are two ordinary photos, taken by myself.
The background is a photo of a collection of pebbles. This photo has been digitally manipulated. This has created a particularly artistic and modern effect in the background, as if the pebbles were drawn.
This gives the end result an exciting contrast between the subject and the background.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
