Ever since my primary school days, Jordan had been on my list to visit. Its rich culture, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the remains of Roman times in Jerash but certainly not least for Petra, one of the 7 New Wonders of the World with its beautifully carved treasure chamber and monastery.
But it is much more than that. The road to the treasure chamber is about 1.2 kilometres long, and one of the sights was this beautiful gorge where a beautiful light shone in around 1pm.
The tranquillity it exudes is really only appearances that deceive. Around 6 o'clock, the doors open and there are already a lot of people waiting. Around noon, actually far too hot to walk there in September, there are droves of people walking through this gorge and so it was just waiting for a moment when nothing walks for a while. The man sitting totally belonged in this scene as far as I was concerned.
Wonderful as a triptych with the other 2 'corridors'.
