Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘Pillars beneath the Santa Monica Pier’ by Retinas images

This striking black-and-white photograph shows the pillars beneath the iconic Santa Monica Pier in California. The long exposure gives the seawater a soft, misty effect that contrasts beautifully with the sturdy wooden structure. The repetition of the pillars creates a strong rhythm and draws the eye towards the deep perspective beneath the pier, where the sea and the horizon seem to merge. The monochrome image emphasises form, structure and light. This creates a tranquil, timeless atmosphere in which the coastal architecture takes on an almost abstract quality. The photograph demonstrates how a familiar place can take on a new character when viewed from a different angle. Here, Santa Monica represents not only the beach and relaxation, but also the interplay between people, technology and nature. As wall art, this piece fits beautifully into a modern, industrial, minimalist or nautical interior. It looks particularly striking in a living room, bedroom, hall, bathroom, office or holiday home. Lovers of California, black-and-white photography, seaside architecture and long exposure times will appreciate the combination of tranquillity, depth and character. An atmospheric eye-catcher for anyone who wants to bring the serenity of the Pacific coast onto their wall.
