From Poetry to Image - A journey from 1998 to now
In June 1998, I took part in a poetry competition organised by TDS Drukwerken in Schiedam (Frans Eikenbroek and Peter Bulthuis, both deceased). It was an extraordinary experience, and I had the honour of winning shared first prize. My four poems were published in a collection - a tangible reminder of a time when words were my only creative outlet. Years later, about 10 days ago, leafing through that collection, I thought: What if I convert these words to images?
Thanks to AI and digital art, this is now possible. I chose a work on acrylic paint, soft colours and a limited colour palette to capture the mood. Not to mince words. The result? Four unique paintings, each based on one of my poems.
