Poles on the Het Groninger Wad
The photo shows the remains of the poles used to create the salt marshes on the Groningen mud flats. By weaving willow branches through the poles, the silt remains on the poles, creating salt marshes that farmers use as agricultural land. In several places, the willow branches have been removed but the poles have remained, creating a beautiful still life on the mud flats. I like to go there and where the contours of the poles form a beautiful backdrop during beautiful sunsets. The vastness, the silence at these moments remains so enjoyable.
I have been photographing since I was little, but the beauty of nature is something I really started to see by actively photographing landscapes and nature. By consciously standing still and taking in your surroundings you learn to look and feel differently.
