Where other flowers seem to retreat under grey skies, the red dahlia, on the contrary, opens proudly. The soft, silver-grey daylight brings out the deepest crimson, velvety burgundy and fiery scarlet. The petals - often symmetrical, sometimes playfully curled - catch every glimpse of light and cast it back with a warm glow.
The beauty of this picture is the tiny Insect atop the front Dahlia and in both Dahlias, Snails are crawling away from the possible thunderstorm. There is also a blurry flower bud on this, so when you lose to photo the Dahlias stand out more.
