About the artwork

La Dame au cochon (Dutch translation: The lady with the pig), is a painting by the Belgian painter Félicien Rops from 1878 in watercolour and gouache. In his Pornokratès Rops depicts a woman with a pig on a leash, and profile, seen from the left. Apparently she represents a courtesan. She is almost naked, with the exception of her silk stockings, shoes, long gloves, earrings, a large blue silk bow with gold band and a blindfold. Above the pig, which has a golden tail, floats three winged putti, angels.
The woman depicted exudes strength and seduction: a femme fatale who has "the reins in her hands". The pig symbolises the male, in beastly condition, submissive and ignorant, controlled by the female, referring to the myth of Circe. Its golden tail, symbol of the devil, refers to luxury and fornication. Yet it is the pig that leads the woman in her blindness, despite her dominance, cruelty and seduction. In a way, Rops reverses the roles and considers the woman as the "human animal".

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
