This painting shows a lively fishing port on the coast, bathed in the blue of sky and sea. White houses rise from the background, while colourful fishing boats gently sway on the water. The paint is applied thickly and expressively, making the work feel direct and full of energy.
The inspiration for this work comes from my travels along coastal towns in Morocco, where life around the harbour still turns to the rhythm of the sea. I wanted to capture the raw, vibrant feeling of such a place: the smell of salt, the cries of fishermen, the sloshing of wooden boats against each other.
Using acrylic paint and palette knife, I built up layers that let the light move across the surface. The brushstrokes are impulsive and expressive, as if the sea itself is painting along. The work radiates a sense of freedom, but also of daily struggles and cooperation between man and nature.
Harbour in Blue brings colour, movement and character to any space. It fits perfectly into interiors with a love of the sea, travel, or Mediterranean energy.
