Claude Renoir (Paris, 4 December 1913 - Troyes, 5 September 1993) was a French director of photography and is shown here as a young child in a portrait dressed in white and orange against a background in green.
He was the son of the actor Pierre Renoir, the grandson of the painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir and the nephew of the filmmaker Jean Renoir.
In 1932, at the age of 18, Renoir made his debut as an assistant cameraman in his uncle Jean Renoir's La Nuit du carrefour and Chotard et Cie. In the later 1930s, he worked on more of his uncle's films, as an assistant cameraman (La Bête humaine from 1938), and sometimes as a cameraman (Toni from 1935 and Partie de campagne from 1936).
Pierre-Auguste Renoir (Limoges, France, 25 February 1841 - Cagnes-sur-Mer, 3 December 1919) was a French impressionist painter.
