Pragser Wildsee / Lago di Braies is one of the most popular excursion destinations in Alta Pusteria / Hochpustertal Valley, a beautiful natural reservoir and a true eldorado for leisure sports enthusiasts. Every year, thousands of people visit the lake, which lies at an altitude of about 1,500 m and is so famous for its turquoise-green colour and the Seekofel massif by which it is surrounded.
The lake is 17 to 36 m deep and, a little peculiarity, the Pragser Wildsee is listed as a swimming lake. Well, still, few people take a leap into the cold water. And despite that, the southern shore of the lake in particular is sought out on warm days by sun worshippers and bathers.
Pragser Wildsee / Dolomites is known as the "Pearl of the Dolomite Lakes". Not for nothing has the lake been noticed by film crews who have made it a popular filming location. A popular reason for a photo was always the lake anyway with the listed Hotel Pragser Wildsee on one side and the Seekofel on the other.
