The large (approx. 9000 square metres) central square in the centre of Prague is a popular meeting place. It is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. It is home to the Old Town Hall with the Astronomical Clock, the Teyn Church and the Jan Hus Monument.
The Old Town Hall (Staroměstská radnice in Czech) is located on the south-west corner of the Old Town Square. The town hall was built in the Gothic style. The Old Town Hall and the Astronomical Clock are important sights on the Old Town Square.
Jan Hus studied at the University of Prague. He was awarded the title of Magister Artium in 1396 and was ordained a priest in 1400. He preached the reform of the church a century before Luther and died at the stake for it.
