Koelreuteria paniculata is a tree known in Dutch as the Chinese varnish tree, yellow soap tree or lantern tree. In English, it is referred to as varnish tree, goldenrain tree or Pride of India (although the origin of the tree is nevertheless in China rather than India.)
It is characterised by its, indeed, lantern-like fruit. I superimposed a picture of that fruit in nine transparent layers. Each layer at a 40-degree angle to the one below. The result was this vivid, abstract image in which leaves, fruits and branches of the tree can still be recognised.
My work can be found in the border regions of photography, painting and computer visuals. With my company 3Develop I do work in commission but I use the same techniques, skills and software to make free work.
