About "Primal soil - Elapsed time"

About the artwork

Primal Ground is my ode to the passage of time-to the beauty that arises when materials surrender to impermanence. In this work, I have captured a weathered metal surface, in which rust, discolouration and a single nail combine to form a silent composition. The presence of cobwebs and subtle shadow fall make the image almost tangible; as if you can feel the silence of desolation.

My inspiration comes from the thought of Meister Eckhart, who describes the primal ground as the origin of all images and words. While photographing, I did not feel like a maker, but a witness to what had already formed in silence-a skin of time, slowly revealing itself.

The atmosphere is hushed, earthy and charged. In line with the material sensitivity of artists like Aaron Siskind and the poetic rawness of Bernd and Hilla Becher, I let the surface speak for itself. Not an illustration, but an experience.

What makes this work special is the space it offers to the viewer's imagination. It is not a depiction of something recognisable, but an invitation to reflection. As a work of art on the wall, it acts as a visual anchor point-a place where time slows down and meaning slowly unfolds.
