The Atlantic puffin, a sharply dressed black and white seabird with a huge, multi-coloured bill, is often called the clown of the sea. It breeds in burrows on islands, such as here on Hornoya in northern Norway.
In flight, puffins flutter their tiny wings frantically to stay in the air, but underwater those wings become powerful fins that allow the birds to catch small fish one by one until they have a full bill.
This Puffin is just emerging from its nest, these nests are located in tunnels that are sometimes up to a metre long.
