Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘Red Beacon Pole – Morning on the North Sea’ by Robert Jan Smit

This breakwater stands at the edge of Scheveningen beach like a robust marker in the water. A red beacon pole rises above the rocks – small in relation to the horizon, but dominant in the composition. The vertical element breaks through the vastness of the sea and sky and brings focus to the image. The low viewpoint enhances the layering of the scene. In the foreground lie wet stones, shaped and polished by years of tides. Between the rocks, the water flows back to the sea, mixing foam and sand into subtle patterns. The texture of stone, water and beach creates a tangible depth that makes the image almost physical. The power of this photograph lies in the interplay of lines. The horizontal strips of beach, sea and cloudy sky create tranquillity and space, while the red pole acts as a visual anchor. The colour accent is limited but effective, naturally drawing the eye to the centre without losing the natural balance. This image captures the essence of the Dutch coast: open, down-to-earth and timeless. A work that brings tranquillity to an interior, but at the same time adds character through its powerful simplicity. Ideal for lovers of maritime landscapes, minimalist compositions and photography in which structure and space are central.
