The Red Diamond Rattlesnake is a venomous pit viper species found in southwestern California in the United States and Baja California in Mexico. This snake preys on rabbits, ground squirrels, birds, lizards, and other snakes. A bite from this species is a medical emergency and can be fatal without treatment with a antidote.
