A poised three quarters portrait of a young woman with red hair as butterflies and light botanicals gather near the temple. The background stays open so the features remain crisp and readable on the wall. Color sits close to the hairline and cheek, guiding the eye toward the quiet glance.
I built the piece from gesture sketches and value studies. Broad wet on wet passages set the movement of wings and hair, then glazing and dry brush refined petal edges, leaf veins, eyelashes and lips. Transparent washes allow subtle paper grain to show through while tiny speckles add natural texture without crowding the silhouette.
The mood is refined and contemporary. Printed large, the portrait holds strongly at distance and rewards close viewing with precise line work and soft transitions of teal, ochre and coral. It pairs well with neutral textiles and nature inspired decor, adding a gentle botanical note to modern interiors.
