About ‘Rembrandt's mother’
This old woman already appears in the first etchings Rembrandt made. She is almost certainly his mother, Neeltgen Willemsdr van Zuytbroeck. On the two versions from 1628 she is 60 years old. They're really studies of her grooved face. They have been drawn in such detail that you can imagine that the young Rembrandt was working on his copper plate right in front of her.
