The rhinoceros is a family of large mammals that today includes five species found in Africa and Asia. The rhinoceros has a curved backward growing horn just behind the movable part of the nose; three species have another smaller stump behind it; the Javan and Indian rhinoceros lack this.
There are five remaining species of rhinoceros, most of which are threatened to a greater or lesser extent in their survival by trade in products made from the horn.
