About ‘Rhythm in Colour - Ibiza town’ by Bas Potman

In this sculpture, contemporary architecture from Ibiza town is repeated and mirrored into a distinctly symmetrical composition. Wavy lines and rounded shapes pile up into a rhythmic pattern in which structure and movement converge.

The layered colours enhance the sense of dynamism and give the image an almost sculptural quality. The repetition and editing shift the focus from the individual building to form, colour and rhythm.

The result is an expressive and graphic image in which architecture is approached as an abstract composition.
