The robin or robin (Erithacus rubecula) is a songbird in the family Muscicapidae (flycatchers). It ventures close to houses, especially in winter. Furthermore, it is a very frequent breeding bird of large gardens, parks and forests. Fun fact: Robins sing 'dialect' Like many songbirds, robins probably sing a different song depending on where they live - although we won't notice much of that. A Dutch study compared, on first hearing, identical songs of French and Dutch robins. A thorough acoustic analysis revealed that two parts heard in the French birds were not sung by the Dutch robins. Although it remains to be seen whether we can really talk about a local dialect here, or whether the birds studied simply wanted to convey a different message.
