Robins in the snow.
A robin is a small songbird known for its distinctive orange-red breast. In Dutch, the robin is often simply called "robin". It is a common bird species in the Netherlands and Belgium. Robins are often found in gardens, forests and parks, and they are mostly active during the day. Among other things, they feed on insects, worms and berries. The robin symbolises winter and often appears in Christmas decorations and images. Robins are often very curious and good-natured. Against conspecifics, on the other hand, both male and female are very aggressive and they fiercely defend 's territory in summer and 's winter. In doing so, they display the red breast feathers. Usually robins make their nests well hidden on the ground. Incidentally, the young do not yet have a red breast. In winter, some of the robins migrate to warmer regions in Europe where more food can be found.
