Several roses from the garden have been brought together and captured in a glass bell jar through double illumination.
They form an atmospheric still life that evokes associations with paintings from the time of the old Dutch Masters.
Even though it has been autumn for some time, the roses resemble lingering guests blinded by the fact that the barren leaves on the trees tell them it is time to say goodbye.
I always find it fascinating to see the beautiful succession of seasons and with this still life show how much beauty there is in impermanence.
