Rotterdam, straightforward and honest. My own city has inspired me since childhood. I try to capture the city’s rawness, beauty, and no-nonsense character in my drawings.
This piece was made using an old-fashioned dip pen with India ink and watercolor. It gives you a view from the Oostbrug looking toward the Oude Haven.
Antique ships drift in the Haringvliet, surrounded by greenery and people seeking a bit of leisure on the water.
In the background, modern skyscrapers rise, but the true icon remains the Witte Huis – a monument to Rotterdam’s courage and spirit since 1897.
