The Erasmus Bridge was completed in 1996 and is located by the river Nieuwe Maas. The bridge connects the Southbank with the center. The bridge is 800 meters long and the highest point is 139 meters.
Several events make use of the Erasmus Bridge. The bridge is an annual part of the route of the Rotterdam marathon. There are also annual fireworks events, such as during the New Year. The Erasmus Bridge has been part of the prologue of the Tour de France in 2010.
