The courtyard garden at the back of City Hall. On the walls of the dome are sculpture groups, executed in bronze, by artist Loekie Metz. They commemorate the persecution of Jews during World War II. At the bottom of the left group is the text: 'Hide the expelled, do not betray refugees. Isa.16:5' with below it 'Mindful of 10,000 Jewish inhabitants of Rotterdam'. Attached to the pillars are reliefs by the same artist, depicting the horrors of the persecution of the Jews. The works of art were unveiled by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix on 27 October 1981.
