A digitally restored and cleaned version of Rowing boat on the river during a night snow shower, Ushibori, by me. The rower sails a passenger to the village of Ushibori across the river. Along the bank snowy houses with illuminated windows, surrounded by trees. Kawase Hasui was a Japanese printmaker considered the figurehead of the shin hanga movement. His prints and woodcuts (ukiyo-e), mostly landscapes and villages in the snow or at dusk, exude a hushed and serene atmosphere in which houses, boats and the few people seem to merge with nature.
