Scottish Highland Cattle originate from the north-west of Scotland. With a height of up to 1.20 m (cow) or 1.35 m (bull) and a weight of 400-580 kg (cow) or 650-750 kg (bull), they are comparatively small in contrast to other cattle breeds. Their long and shaggy coat is mostly red-brown in colour, but sometimes black or white. The animals have a good-natured, undemanding and robust character, which allows them to be kept outdoors all year round and which also makes it possible to walk safely through the grazing areas on the designated footpaths, observing the rules of conduct. The average life expectancy of the animals is 20 years.
