While walking through the Bergen dunes, I came across two Scottish Highlanders. A beautiful sight, but the first location they were in was visually unsettled and offered little room for a strong composition. Fortunately, one of the animals decided to move to a more open spot - not far from a small puddle, which, although out of focus, suddenly did the landscape justice.
I wanted to capture the peace and strength this moment exuded as purely as possible. In post-processing, I chose to tone down the colours and temper the green a little. This brings out the robust look of the Highlander more strongly and gives the photo a subdued atmosphere. The slightly darker tone also enhances the animal's character and mystique.
This photo is more than a nature image - it is a moment of stillness and connection with the rugged beauty of the Dutch dune landscape. Perfect for those who love natural simplicity with character.
