About ‘Sea Glass II’ by Franka Poulain

In *Sea Glass II*, light cream, grey-green and dark green hues flow like a gentle wave across a surface of overlapping organic forms. The work is reminiscent of mother-of-pearl, shells and stones worn smooth by water, without literally becoming any of those elements. Light and transparency are more important than the subject itself. This creates a serene, abstract image in which new details continually come into view. The natural colour transitions lend the work a meditative quality. Beautiful as a large-scale piece in a tranquil interior, but also striking as part of a gallery wall featuring botanical or abstract art.
