Once a major source of income for Peru, bird droppings are still used on this island on the coast of Paracas. The Ballestas Islands are protected, so hardly anyone comes ashore. Boats leave daily in the early morning for these 'Poor man's Galapagos' islands. In addition to the many birds, penguins and sea lions can be found there.
