Seafood & Summer Glow

by BS

This vibrant still life is bursting with colour and energy thanks to its expressive brushstrokes and saturated colour palette. Against an intense pink background, oysters, lemons, red wine and a bottle of white wine are arranged into a Mediterranean table scene that feels both rustic and luxurious. The coarse texture of the oil paint emphasises the organic shapes of the lemons and shells, while the thick layers of paint add depth and movement to the canvas.

On the left, a vase of crisp grissini stands out, encased in a blue and white striped pot that provides a fresh, almost nautical accent. The two glasses of red wine immediately attract attention, placed right next to a selection of open oysters gleaming in shades of white and grey. The lemons, full and sun-kissed, are playfully scattered around the bottle, with a few vibrant green leaves providing natural dynamism.

The work exudes Mediterranean simplicity and culinary sophistication - a tribute to the flavours of the sea and the South. This painting invites the viewer not only to look, but also to taste, smell and enjoy.
