Seated steelworker: Jacob van Loon, Rembrandt van Rijn, ca. 1661 - ca. 1662.
pen and brown ink, with brush in brown ink and white opaque paint, over traces of black chalk, on light brown banknote paper; framing lines in brown ink, h 195mm × b 160mm Catalogue entry
This drawing, drawn with finer lines than the other two, shows the leftmost steelmaster. He's in the same position as in the painting. The exposure and the low point of view show that from the start, Rembrandt had planned the top left window and the low point of view.
