Beautiful refined illustration built up of multiple layers. The symmetry creates a hypnotic effect that you can look at for hours and discover something new again and again.

My inspiration for this work is my love for organic shapes. I draw these intuitively by hand, surrounded by my large collection of houseplants and a view of my garden. There I digitally process my drawings into compositions like this. I treat every stage of this process with love and care, and always over a cup of licorice tea and instrumental music in the background.

To me, the layers in this illustration symbolize the layering of life, where there is always a layer beneath the top layer of what you see or experience. Guard against illusions and always try to look beyond what is happening on the surface, life consists of so many more dimensions than you often think you know.

If you look closely you will also see two eyes hidden. You look at the illustration, but the illustration also looks back. After all, that's what art does, you don't see the work, you see mostly yourself mirrored in the work.

This illustration comes into its own in both sleek interiors, and in a more vintage-like environment.
