Serene Cherry Blossoms at Sunset by Carolien Van den Steen van Ommeren

Bring a sense of calm and a warm, harmonious atmosphere to your home with this minimalist landscape. This artwork features delicate cherry blossom branches that stand out beautifully against a radiant sun in soft pastel colours. The harmonious palette of warm pink, soft orange and subtle purple accents creates a serene, Zen-like feel. Perfect for hanging on the wall in a modern bedroom, a relaxing living room or a stylish hallway. This handmade acrylic painting has been digitally captured in high resolution, ensuring that the authentic texture of the canvas and the tactile layers of paint are beautifully preserved in the final print.

This artwork is the result of an intuitive and organic painting process. Whilst the canvas began as a minimalist seascape, the dynamics of the paint and light compelled me to completely change course halfway through. It transformed into an atmospheric blossom landscape. My unique perspective on this piece lies in the deliberate balance between tranquillity and texture. Whilst the background consists of an almost meditative, even glow of warm pastel tones, the foreground brings a tangible energy. By applying the blossom petals with thick layers of acrylic paint and a sponge, a palpable three-dimensional depth is created. The dark vignette in the corners reinforces this focus, drawing the viewer’s gaze directly to the radiant centre of the sun. It is a depiction of a fleeting moment of perfect tranquillity.
