Serenity at the Pond

by Christian Ovís

‘Serenity by the Pond’ depicts a vast waterscape beneath a softly coloured sky. Pink, peach and golden-yellow clouds are reflected in the still water. Trees, shrubs and reeds line both banks in muted shades of green and brown. In the distance, the vegetation fades into a light mist. The foreground features low-growing plants and slender stems at the water’s edge.

The composition guides the eye across the open centre of the pond towards the distant bank. Darker trees at the sides frame the lighter water and the warm sky. The reflection is built up from soft horizontal strokes of colour that lend the surface a gentle movement. Loose contours and gradual transitions create an Impressionist feel. The image remains serene as sharp details and strong colour contrasts are kept to a minimum.

This atmospheric pond landscape is ideal as wall art in a living room, bedroom or quiet workspace. The warm sky colours blend with cream and wood, whilst grey-green complements natural accessories. The soft reflections are beautifully highlighted against a plain wall. From a distance, the broad band of light on the water catches the eye; up close, you can see the reeds, the small plants and the shifting shades of the clouds.
