His sister invited us to tea at her parents' house in the very remote Sking village, in the Zanskar valley, the Indian Himalayas. Bewildered, he stood there while we drank tea and watched what we were doing in his parents' house, showing us his small yak butter lamp, which he had lit for the occasion. In the sparsely lit house made of loam and stones, soft floodlight fell over his face and clothes. My heart as a photographer made a small jump.
