About ‘Shell fisherman with horse and cart’ by INGO

This work is an updated and modern reproduction based on a black-and-white postcard titled "Egmond aan Zee Shellfisherman with horse and cart", and it is from the time period 1920 - 1939.
The original picture of the postcard has been digitally converted into a completely new version if that was made using an "oil on canvas" technique.
This work shows a traditional method of shell fishing by horse and cart. This practice has a historical context in the region around Egmond aan Zee.
The picture shows a man with a rake or shovel standing in the shallow waters of the sea, while a horse with a wooden cart stands beside it in the water. This illustrates the manual and horse-drawn method formerly used to collect shells from the surf. This form of fishing was common along the North Sea coast.
