Shepherd with a flock of sheep moves across the barren fields in the Barranco de Honda near Gojar.
Gojar is a village near the city of Granada, Andalusia, Spain. These dry fields at the beginning of winter lie at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and will turn greener again during the winter after the influence of some rain has done its job.
Walking through this area is a wonderful experience. The emptiness , the desolation, here and there an old or dilapidated farmhouse or outbuilding in the open field, the clock seems to have stopped. To the horizon in the outskirts, few or no signs of today's or yesterday's time. Just nature and some sparse agriculture. Birds in the fields, a bird of prey high in the sky gliding with majestic wings on the thermals of still rising warm air from the hills. Walking through these surroundings gives you a wandering feeling, the signposts we are used to are missing, supported by GPS techniques of the phone we find our way. A lovely day with beautiful memories of a desolate area, different from what we are used to.
