About ‘Silence between ebb and clouds’ by Marcel de Jonge

This black-and-white photograph captures a moment of tranquillity on the coast, where the landscape opens up at low tide. The shallow pools and exposed sandbanks stretch to the horizon, forming a rhythmic pattern of lines and textures. What immediately strikes the viewer is the reflection of the dramatic cloudy sky in the still water. An almost surreal interplay of light and shadow. But if you look closely, you can also see the subtle ripples in the water, the fine grains in the sand and the way the light behaves slightly differently at the edges of the pools. Every detail contributes to a sense of timelessness.

The inspiration for this work came during a walk along the Wadden Sea coast on Ameland, on a day when the sky was filled with heavy clouds and the tide was slowly receding. It was not a spectacular sunset or stormy scene, but rather the understated power of the moment that moved me. The silence, the space and the reflection evoked a sense of introspection. As if nature itself had paused for a moment. With this photograph, I want to create an atmosphere of tranquillity and contemplation. The work invites you to slow down, to look without haste. The emotion I want to convey is that of connectedness with the landscape, of letting go and breathing again.

In an interior, this image brings a calm, meditative energy. It suits people who love minimalism, nature in its purest form and images that continue to speak without words.

More than thirty years later, life brought me back to the city where my heart has always remained. At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
