About ‘Silence in transit’ by Glanzodermatt by Roger Odermatt

Taken on a quiet autumn day on Lake Brienz, this black and white picture shows a moment of calm after a hectic day. The absence of colour emphasises the lines, light and shadows of the landscape and invites you to leave everyday life behind and immerse yourself in the tranquillity of nature.

I use street and travel photography to capture everyday life on the move - in alleyways, squares, trains and cafés, wherever people leave their mark. I am particularly interested in lighting moods, graphic structures and quiet observations away from the typical postcard motifs. I want my series for Art Heroes to look like short breaks: Pictures in which you can linger for a moment, sense an atmosphere and perhaps read your own story into them.
