This painting was created from the play between control and letting go. I started with leftover paint from my palette, bits of my own collage material and the deep lines of Indian ink. Without a rigid plan, but with the confidence that the work would unfold. Each layer brought new surprises, new rhythms. Acrylic paint and oil pastels gave extra energy and texture, as if they were starting a conversation with each other.
Layering is essential for me. I lay layer upon layer, sometimes semi-translucent, sometimes powerful and thick. This creates depth, the feeling of discovering more and more as you look longer. A mouth appears, an eye pops up, lines turn into musical notes or dancing figures. It is a process of recognising and releasing, of letting what wants to show itself emerge.
The painting is playful yet intense. It exudes freedom, boldness and colour. For me, this is a celebration of energy, expression and the beauty of imperfection. Everything is allowed to be there.
