Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890) painted his "Skull with burning cigarette" in 1886.
This skeleton with a burning cigarette is a student's joke. Van Gogh painted it during the time he was taking classes at the Antwerp Art Academy. The painting shows that he had a good command of anatomy.
In this version, I have placed the skull on a more modern, coloured background.
