The Niagara Falls (English: Niagara Falls, French: Chutes Niagara) are among the largest and most famous waterfalls in the world. The waterfall consists of three parts: the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. They are located on the border between the United States and Canada between the cities of the same name: Niagara Falls in the American state of New York and Niagara Falls in the Canadian province of Ontario. The cities are connected by the Rainbow Bridge, a bridge over the Niagara River downstream from the falls. The priest Louis Hennepin (born in Ath in the then Spanish Netherlands) was the first white person to see (1680) and describe the falls.
